Monday Musings: Divine Intercession

mwilliamsshalom
“Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” Romans 8:34 (NIV)

Jesus, the Son of God, is actively interceding on our behalf. RIGHT NOW! If that doesn’t give you pause, I don’t know what else will. Like, doesn’t he have anything better to do? If I was him I’d be walking the streets of gold, checking on mansion preparation, basking in the adoration of the angels, or simply talking to the Father about deep cosmic concerns. But no, he is interceding for you and me.

Dictionary.com defines intercede like this, to act or interpose in behalf of someone in difficulty or trouble, as by pleading or petition:

This is what Jesus is doing for you and for me. He is pleading with the Father on our behalf. As if He hasn’t done enough for us already. I mean, laying down His life and paying our sin penalty is a PRETTY BIG DEAL! I can’t fathom the depth of love that causes Him to daily intercede for us. But, beloved He does.

This is such blessed assurance. If heaven is holding a conversation about me than it doesn’t matter what jealous plot or side conversations others have about me. My divine intercessor is petitioning the Father ON MY BEHALF! This, my friend, gives me a divinely unfair advantage over those who do not seek my highest good. Thank you, Jesus, for interceding for me!
